THE ACCOMPLISHMENT OF THE PURPOSE OF CHRIST

Few, if any who would take part in a course like this, would deny the fact that Jesus did actually die for our sins. The reason for His having to die has been made clear to us. But in order to impress upon our minds the nature of the sacrifice and the human and spiritual agony involved, let us reflect on the actual accomplishment of the sacrifice of the man Jesus for the sins of all.

Jesus was born to die for us. The very first hint of a redeemer is found in the Garden of Eden. God told Adam that in the day that he would eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that he would surely die. Eve then succumbed to the wiles of the devil, ate of the fruit and gave to her husband to eat. At that point both Adam and Eve were separated from God by sin. This separation is called "death." Those who are separated from God require redemption. Man began to die physically the moment he sinned, but their separation from God because of sin was spiritual death. Man needed a redeemer at that very point in the Garden of Eden, but the time was not yet right for the Redeemer to come, for mankind had much to learn.
