In lesson #1 we saw the mankind had a need. His need was for a Redeemer.

The word Redeemer does not appear in the New Testament but the word redeem appears twice.

In the New Testament, the word redeem means “to buy up, i.e. ransom; figuratively, to rescue from loss (improve opportunity).”[1]

exagorazo (ex-ag-or-ad'-zo); from NT:1537 and NT:59; to buy up, i.e. ransom; figuratively, to rescue from loss (improve opportunity):

(KJV - redeem.)

Now that which has been bought must also have been sold. Keeping that thought in mind we look at the lament of the apostle Paul:

1. “For we know that the law is ___________: but I am __________, ______ under sin” (Rom 7:14).

2.  “For I know that my ____________ __________, and that he shall stand at the _______________ _______ __________ the ___________” (Job 19:25).

 3.  In Isaiah 41:14; 43:14; 48:17; and 54:5 what is another expression found to describe the redeemer? ___________________________________.

 4. “But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,  To __________them that were under the law, that we might receive the ___________of sons (Gal 4:4, 5).

 5. What else did the Redeemer purchase (Acts 20:28)?

 6. What was the purchase price (Acts 20:28)?

7.  What was the relation between Christ and God before the creation according to Philippians 2:5-7?

 8. In the context of Philippians 2:5-11, what statement indicates the redemptive work of Christ?

 9. “For if the ____________of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: 14 How much more shall the __________ of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit __________  _________  _________  ________ to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? 9. And _____  _________  ________he is the _____________ of the ______ ____________, that by means of ____________, for the _________________ of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance. 16 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. 17 For a ___________________ is of force after men are ________: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth. 18Whereupon neither the ______________ _____________ was dedicated without ______________” (Heb 9:13-18).

10.  What was necessary to dedicate both the Old and New Testaments?

11.  “And almost all things are by the law ____________with ________; and without ___________ ____  __________ is no ___________” (Heb 9:22).

12.  What did the shedding of Christ’s blood provide for us (Mt. 26:28)?

13.  “For the _________of the ________ is in the ___________: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an _______________ for your souls: for it is the ___________ that ___________  ____   ____________ for the soul” (Lev 17:11).

14. “Neither by the __________ of _________ and ___________, but by his _________  ____________he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained ____________ _______________for us” (Heb 9:12).

15. “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not ____________ with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the ____________ ________ of Christ, as of a _________  without ___________ and without ______” (1 Peter 1:18-19).
