Because he has set his love upon ME, therefore, I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known MY name. He shall call on ME, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him MY salvation. (Psalm 91:14-16)
Do you remember reading about when Solomon became king in I Kings 2:46? He prayed to God. He did not ask God for riches. He asked for the wisdom to rule with an understanding heart (I Kings 3:9). His prayer pleased God so much that God gave Solomon more wisdom like no one had ever had before him. But God also gave him riches and honor (I Kings 3:13).
When we love God with all our hearts and please Him with our lives, He gives us more than we ask. In Psalm 91:14-16, we see that….
….God will set us on high;
….He will answer our prayers;
….He will deliver us and honor us.
Imagine that! We who are to honor and glorify the Almighty and praise Him, will be honored by God if we love Him and please Him. He will grant us long life and salvation.
Jesus is a good example of pleasing God. In
John 8:29 He said, "...for I always do these things to please Him." Another one who pleased God was Enoch. In Genesis 5:24 we read, "And Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him." Enoch pleased God so that he did not see death because He walked with God.We can take lessons from these Biblical examples. We need to study God's Word so that we will know how to please God. When we please God, He will set us on high and honor us.
