Lesson 2
Pattern in All Things
Quick Review
God gives us His pattern in all things, if we want to be
pleasing to Him we must following His instructions.
In the series of lessons “BBB” we learned that there is a
pattern given by God that we must follow in order to become
His children - the saved!
We found that Christ is the way to the Father and no one
can come to the Father unless he goes through the Son. (John
14:16)
Jesus says, “I am the door. If anyone
enters by Me, he will be saved…” (John 10:9).
We must obey Christ in order to receive the salvation
offered. (John 14:15)
We found that one…
has to hear God‘s Word, (Rom. 10:17; Matt. 7:24-25)
must believe Christ is the Son of God,
(Hebrews 11:6; John 20:30-31)
must repent from sin; (Luke 13:3;
Acts 17:30)
must be willing to confess
Christ before men, (Matt. 10:32-33; Rom. 10:9-10)
and then one:
must be baptized (Acts 2:38; Acts 22:16;
Mark 16:16) in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of
sins.
After taking these obedient steps for the correct
reasons, the Lord adds those being saved to the church (Acts
2:47).
Once we have become saved, a child of God, we find in
His word that we must live faithfully until death (Rev. 2:10;
Matt. 10:22; 1 Cor. 15:58) in order to receive eternal life.
Again, if we are truly seeking God we will go to His
written word and learn from Him how to please Him. Are you
truly wanting to please God? If so, you will hear His Son and
obey His commands (Matt. 17:5; John 14:15).
All Scripture is given by inspiration
of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof,
for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man
of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good
work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
But He
(Jesus) answered
and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that proceeds from the mouth
of God.’” (Matt. 4:4)
Be diligent to present yourself approved to
God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly
dividing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15)
We have been given the Holy Scriptures in order that we can
live righteously and pleasing to God by studying them. Every
word is important that God has given us and we must study to
know how to please Him.
I borrowed this from one of Sandy’s lessons:
Rules for Bible Study
Always notice:
Who is speaking?
To whom is he speaking?
What message did he intend for them to understand?
To what extent does the message apply to us today?
God’s pattern for Worship
In this series of lessons I want us to focus on the pattern
He has given us in His written word on how the church is to
worship Him.
We find that there are many churches in the world and they
all worship different ways. Not all of these ways can be
right. We must be sure we are worshipping the way that God has
said within His written word in order to please Him.
Can we know the way He wants us to worship
All Scripture is given by inspiration
of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof,
for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man
of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good
work. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
The answer is yes, we can know by going to His word and
studying the way the apostle’s and the early Church worshipped
Him. God has not left us guessing.
