Thought Questions:
A. Find some Proverbs that speaks of ill-gotten gain and how it will end up.
15 My son, do not walk in the way with them,
Keep your foot from their path;
16 For their feet run to evil,
And they make haste to shed blood.
17 Surely, in vain the net is spread
In the sight of any bird;
18 But they lie in wait for their own blood,
They lurk secretly for their own lives.
19 So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain;
It takes away the life of its owners. Prov 1:15-19
Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished, But he who gathers by labor will increase. Prov 13:11
He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house, But he who hates bribes will live. Prov 15:27
Bread gained by deceit is sweet to a man, But afterward his mouth will be filled with gravel. Prov 20:17
B. Find New Testament scriptures about true peace.
"These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” Jn. 16:33
"For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace." Rom 8:6
"and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Phil 4:7
C. Your thoughts:
I find it very interesting to watch how Satan is doing his normal twisted thing by trying his best to frustrate and discourage Job through his friends. Much of what his friends are saying is partly ture, but not completely. Satan never comes at us straight on. He slithers and slimes his way around under cover of whatever might wear us down and cause us to give up. He knows our weak spots. He has turned everyone and everything against Job and yet Job says he knows that his Redeemer lives. I think, personally, I could handle just about any loss but to have people that I care about turn away from me and for me to have to suffer true loneliness seems very hard to bear. When everyone is against you it would think it very hard to remain faithful as Job has. Let us be ever diligent and remain always on guard against the one who would steal us away from our Saviour.
