Thought Questions:

A. Find NT scriptures that describe how we prosper spiritually after enduring trials.

Jas. 1:2-4,12; Heb. 12:1-13; Rev. 2:10 These scriptures talk about enduring and becoming stronger and the reward ahead if we will remain faithful to the end. God disciplinesor trains those whom He loves. I want to be loved by Him as His child. Also, in II Cor. 12:10 Paul says his "thorn in the flesh" kept him humble and reminded him that his weakness was strength because then God’s power could come through.

B. Find NT scriptures that talk about the darkness and the light.

Eph 5:8-14 talks about walking as children of light. We are told to expose the darkness as children of light. We shouldn’t mention what is done in the dark! Just let it come to light through our lifestyle. I John 1:5-7 tells us to walk in the light because God is light and there can’t be any darkness in Him at all. We can’t have both by living in darkness (sin) and being in fellowship with Him. Darkness means we are without Him.

C. Please add your personal comments or discoveries.

There is so much truth in what Job is saying: 1)God is sovereign and is in total control. Even Job is lamenting his ability to argue his own case because he knows that God can do whatever He chooses. 2) God provides for both the just and the unjust, but He sees and will one day punish the wicked. No one escapes death. 3) Evildoers have always done their deeds in the dark, just as they do today. 4) We can’t comprehend His power, ever.
