1. What did the Israelites discover when they reached Rephidim?
 Ans.:   
There was no water.
 
 
 
2. Who did the people blame for the problem?
Ans.: 
Moses.
 
 
 
3. What did God tell Moses to do about it?

Ans.:  And the LORD said unto Moses, Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thine hand, and go. Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel (Ex 17:5-6).

 

Verse 7 says Moses called the place Massah and Meribah which mean “strife” and “contention.”
 
 
4. While they were in Rephidim, who came and fought against them?
 Ans.: 
Amalek.
 
 
 
5. Who observed the battle with Amalek from afar?

Ans.:  Moses, Aaron and Hur. 

 

6. Who was given the task of choosing out men and fighting the Amalekites?
 
Ans.:

7. What seemed to determine who prevailed in the battle?
 
Ans.: 
When Moses would raise his hand Israel would prevail; but when he let down his hand Amalek prevailed.
 
 
 
8. How did they deal with the situation when Moses hands grew too heavy for him to hold them up?

Moses sat on a stone and Aaron and Hur held his hands up.

Ans.:
