1. Verse 4 These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that Jehovah God made earth and heaven.
From verse four, the Hebrew word rendered "generations of the heavens and the earth," [Toledoth], is the recurring introduction to the various sections of the Book of Genesis that follow. The word is used to introduce ten sections of Genesis:
