Genesis chapter 17
1. How old was Abram when God told him to walk before Him and be blameless? 99
2. God made a covenant with Abram. Using a good Bible dictionary, give a definition for the word "covenant." COVENANT a mutual contract or agreement between two parties, each of which is bound to fulfill certain engagements to the other.
3. God made a covenant with Noah (Gen. 9:12), what was the sign (token) of that covenant? A bow in the cloud.
4. What were people to remember whenever they saw that sign? God would never again destroy the entire earth with a flood.
5 What was the sign, or evidence of the covenant that God made with Abram? (Gen.17:10) Circumcision.
6. At what age was this to be done? Eight days.
7. List man's part in the covenant. Walk before God and be blameless; circumcise the males.
8. List God's part in the covenant. God would make Abram a father of many nations, kings would come out of him and God would give him the land of Canaan.
9. God changed Abram's name to Abraham.
10. God changed Sarai's name to Sarah.
11. Why did Abraham laugh? God told him Sarah would give birth to a child at the age of 90.
12. Who did Abraham want God to recognize? Ishmael.
13. What name was given to this child that Sarah would bear? Isaac.
14. Using a Bible dictionary, write the meaning of that name. Laughter.
15. What kind of covenant would God establish with this child (Gen. 17:19)? Everlasting.
16. How did God say He would bless Ishmael? Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation (Gen 17:20).
