1. How did Abram show his respect for God (12:6-8)?
He built an alter unto the Lord in the plain of Moreh and went to the mountain east of Bethel and built an altar unto the Lord and called upon His name.

The Old Testament passages refer to worship and sacrifice, especially where an altar is involved. In Zephaniah 3:9 it appears that even devoting ones' life to God is intended. In the New Testament the expression refers to responding to the teaching concerning salvation.

Saul called upon the name of the Lord by being baptized, and his sins were washed away.
