1. The dreams of the butler and baker, Joseph's prison companions having been fulfilled, how long after that did Pharaoh have his dream?
Ans.: Two years.
2. In your own words, recount the first dream of Pharaoh.
Ans.: He dreamed seven very healthy, attractive cows came up out of the river and were feeding in a meadow. Then seven lean and gaunt cows came up out of the river and ate the seven healthy cows. Then Pharaoh awoke.
3. Also in your own words, recount the second dream of Pharaoh.
Ans.: There were seven fat ears of corn on one stalk. Then seven thin, wind-blasted ears rose up and devoured the seven fat ears. Then Pharaoh awoke.
4. When Pharaoh called his wise men together and told them his dream, what was their interpretation of it?
Ans.: They could not interpret them.
5. How did the butler react to the situation?
Ans.: "I do remember my faults this day."
6. What did he remember that he recounted to Pharaoh?
Ans.: He remembered his time in prison with the baker and how Joseph interpreted their dreams and that the interpretation was correct.
7. When Pharaoh told Joseph that he heard Joseph could interpret dreams, what did Joseph say?
Ans.: Joseph said, it was not in him but God would give him an answer of peace.
8. What was Joseph's interpretation of the dreams?
Ans.: Both dreams meant the same thing. This was what God would do. There would be seven years of plenty followed by seven years of famine. Since the dream was presented twice, it would shortly come to pass.
9. What advice did Joseph give to Pharaoh?
Ans.: Find and set a discreet man over Egypt and then appoint officers over the land and let them take the fifth part of the land in the years of plenty and store it up for the years of famine.
10. And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the spirit of God is? (vs.38)
11. What was the name of Joseph's wife, and who was she?
Ans.: Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera, priest of On.
12. What were the names of the two sons born to her and what did the names mean?
Ans. #1: Manasseh
Meaning: "For God, said he, hath made me forget all my toil and all my father's house."
Ans. #2: Ephraim
Meaning: "For God hath caused me to be fruitful in the land of my affliction."
13. How wide spread was the famine?
Ans.: Over all the face of the earth.
