There
Is None That Does Good
By Regaina Thompson
"There
is none that does good, no not one!" (Psalms 14:3a)
We seem to be surrounded
by those who say "There is no God." It is so easy to
feel as if everyone in this world is evil and does not seek God and His will.
In I Kgs. 19:3 we read
that the prophet Elijah was afraid and ran away. In vs 4 he said, "I
am no better than my fathers, just take my life." God allowed him to eat
and to rest awhile. We all get tired and discouraged like Elijah. Sometimes we
just need rest.
In vs. 9 the angel of the
Lord came and asked Elijah, "What are you doing here?" Elijah
answered that he had done all of these things for God. He was the
only one left who was faithful to God. Now they were going to kill him,
too.(Verse 10)
God came and spoke to
Elijah. He told Elijah that he still had work to do and there were
7,000 people in Israel who were still faithful.
Oftentimes, in our daily
walk, we get tired and discouraged like Elijah. We often feel alone, too. I
know as a homeschooler I have felt alone many times. For most of 8 yrs, I have
been the only one in our congregation who is homeschooling. Being involved with
a homeschooling group has brought me in much contact with people who
are confused by denominationalism. Again, I feel as if I am the only one.
In that situation particularly, I am alone in the truth.
However, thanks to the
internet, I know that this is not true. There are hundreds of homeschoolers
who are members of the Lord's church. This is just one personal situation I
have discovered. I am sure we all have stories to tell, but rest assured we
are not alone. God is at work in His church and the truth will prevail in the
end. Then we shall receive our reward if we "faint not". Gal 6:9
