REV. 14

The Lamb, The 144,000 and The Consolation

1.    Who's name was written in the foreheads of the redeemed 144,000?

The name of the Lamb's Father

2.    Go back to Revelation 5:5 and identify the Lion of the tribe of Judah (if you need help see Hebrews7:14). Who was that Lion?

Jesus

3.     Now how is that individual now described in Rev. 14:1?

As a Lamb

4.    Why would the same individual be identified as a Lion in one place and as a Lamb in another?

In the  Lion we see one who is powerful and has overcome, prevailed, triumphed (Rev.5:5).

In the Lamb we see gentleness in the consolation He provides by redeeming us (Rev. 14:4)

5.    John heard "voices" from Heaven that were making great sounds (vs. 2). What were the sounds like?

Like many waters, like great thunder, like harpist playing on their harps.

6.     Does verse 3 say they were singing or playing?

Singing

7.    Who were the ones  who knew the song? (vs.3)

The 144,000 who were redeemed from the earth

8.    List the characteristics of the ones who were able to learn that song (vss.4&5)

"They are virgins" (a symbol for spiritual purity)

"They follow the Lamb wherever He goes" i.e., They obey the teachings of Christ)

They are "redeemed from among men."

They are "the first fruits to God and to the Lamb."

"In their mouth was no guile."

"They are without fault before the throne of God."

9.    Upon what mount was the Lamb standing?

Mt. Zion

10. Identify this mount from Hebrews 12: 22-24.

The general assembly and church of the firstborn who are enrolled in Heaven

11. What was "another angel" doing?

Preaching the everlasting gospel to those on earth

12.  What would happen after the preaching of the gospel (vs.7)?

Judgment

13.    What would happen to those who worshipped the beast and his image and who received his mark (vs.10)?

He himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. (Rev 14:10)

14.     From verse 10, who do you see approving of the punishment of those who worshiped the beast and his image?

The Lamb and the holy angels

15.    Amidst the persecutions being suffered by Christians because of their refusing to wear the mark of the beast comes words of consolation which encourage Christians to be faithful. What are those words of consolation founds in verse 13?

"Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on."

16.    The answer to #15 reinforces the admonition in Revelation 2:10. What does this passage say is in store for those who are faithful even unto death?

"Be faithful even to the point of death and I will give you the crown of life"
