The Sin Around Us

By Regaina Thompson

In Ps. 4, David is so distressed over the sin around him. His world doesn’t really seem so different from ours.

He  questions why those around him seek after vain things and tell lies. Today,  people  worship idols of many different types. They choose to believe many delusions in the name of religion.  It is so scary how many people  allow themselves to be led astray.

As we look at this chapter, we learn how David stayed out of trouble. The first thing David did was to pray. He called out to the Lord. David  knew he belonged to God. He was sure God would answer him.

God inspired David to warn those who sin, "How long will you turn my glory into shame?" "How long will you love vanity?"...

We get so frustrated at times with the evil around us. We are tempted to fall as well.  David advised us to examine our hearts and to be still.  We oftentimes fill up our time  with so many "good things".  Yet, we fail to leave time to just be still.

We don’t offer sacrifices like they did in David’s time, but there are still things we must do right in His sight.

AFTER...

  • We have prayed
  • We have  examined ourselves,
  • We have been still,
  • We have  done what is right...

...Then we can trust in the Lord and have peace.

When we know that we are right before God, we feel at peace in our hearts knowing that He will hear us and answer our prayers.
