"Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength." (Psalm 54:1)
David knew that only God could help him and he entreated God to save him. We must be like David, remembering that God is always there. God knows and judges the best ways and means for us.
We must be willing to cry to for help with humility. We must have faith that His will is best for us and that He will indeed be there for us. This means we must have a willing mind, a heart full of love and faith in Him.
We can't expect someone who we doubt to answer our
prayers. If we have all faith in Him and believe that He can do what we entreat of Him, then our entreaties will be answered according to His will (James 1:6).
Further on in this chapter in verse 7 David looked and realized that God had blessed him over his enemies:
"For he hath delivered me out of all trouble: and mine eye hath seen his desire upon mine enemies." (Psalm 54:7)We too, must look and realize the blessings God blesses us with. We should turn our sight from the things the world sees as triumphs, such as, riches, fame, beauty and so on. The world has a different idea of blessings than the child of God should have. Just because worldly fame or riches are there, it doesn't mean that we have missed the blessings.
The real blessings are in Christ, God's only Son. God gave Him to free us from our sins. He will save us if we follow and obey Him. Just as David knew who was delivering him, we should be aware and thankful that God is always there. He is always ready to help those who abide in Him.
