Rules For A Christian Home

By Regaina Thompson

Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.
It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows; for so He gives His beloved sleep.
Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb is a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one's youth.
Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; they shall not be ashamed, But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.   (Psalm 127)

Unless the Lord is the foundation of our home, everything is vain and useless. All our hard work is for nothing, because He will grant rest to those He loves.

Children are such a joy and a blessing to our lives. Of all the things we work hard to do in this life, our children are the only true heritage that will last throughout eternity.

I heard someone recently quote Teddy Roosevelt in regards to Wed. night Bible study and children having school (either homework or needing their sleep). The quote was, “I would rather have my children in heaven learning their ABCs than in hell speaking Greek and Latin.”

WOW! If only parents understood that our children are a blessing even on the worst of days!  We have been entrusted with a most valuable treasure.  We must realize that there is no sacrifice too great when it comes to raising our children. We will stand before God and give answer to Him for the kind of parents we have been.

Deut. 6:6-9 tells us to take every opportunity to teach them.

Eph 6:4 says to train them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Thank God daily for your children!

 Teach them!

Set an example for them to follow.

Pray constantly for wisdom on how to raise them.
