 Outside of the City of God there is....  

               ...Spiritual danger

                   ....Spiritual death,

                       ....Miseries caused by sin

                           ....And a plotting devil.

Are you inside the safe walls of the God's City?  Besides being a beautiful city, the City of God is our fortress!  It is our safe haven!

God is in her palaces; He is known as her refuge. (Ps.48:3)

The City of God has towers built into her walls.  They provide strength and protection.

Walk about Zion, and go all around her.  Count her towers.  (Ps.48:12)

As you walk about, pay attention to her bulwarks.  They are there for your protection.

Mark well her bulwarks; consider her palaces…  (Ps.48:13) 

The City of God is the church.  How does the church provide a defense for its citizenship?

·        God is enthroned in the palaces of His city. He provides and protects both spiritually and physically.

·        The Word of God is our sword and defense in this wonderful city.  It protects us from sin and the plottings of the devil. (Eph. 6:12-18)

·        The citizens of this great city protect and care for each other. In Hebrews 10:24-25 we learn that Christians are to assemble regularly with one another so that we may stir up one another and exhort one another in order to help each other get to Heaven.

…You have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels,

To the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect,

To Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel. (Hebrews 12:22-24)

GREAT is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God…. (Ps.48:1)
