My lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing to You, and my soul, which You have redeemed. My tongue also shall talk of Your righteousness all the day long… (Psalm 71:23-24)
It is imperative that we go out and spread the Gospel, for we never know just how much we can change a life by telling someone the Truth of the Gospel. Here are some accounts of people who spread the Gospel and how it changed 3 lives just at the right moment.
Officer Joe, a policeman, was walking his beat downtown one day when a brother and sister approached him. They told him the plan of Salvation and explained how Jesus only built one Church. The policeman was astonished! He listened very intently. He then agreed to be baptized. After his baptism he was truly grateful and happy to be saved. He thanked the brother and sister for telling him the Truth, as he had been searching for the Truth most of his life. As he left the church building he recieved a call on his radio. There was a robbery going on a few blocks from the church building. He explained that he had to go and said that he would return later that night for Weds night Bible study.
Officer Joe was shot and killed just 30 mins after his baptism. He was only 27yrs old.
Harold was distraught after losing his job. His bills had been mounting up, and now it looked like he was going to lose his house. His wife had left him just last year and everything seemed to be going down hill ever since. He was lonely, heart broken and broke. He felt he had no where left to turn. Harold decided to kill himself, thinking that if he did that, he would finally have some peace.
As he swung the rope over his living room ceiling beam he checked the noose and the knot. All was ready. He put the noose around his neck and climbed onto a chair. Harold stood on the chair. As he sobbed he prayed, “Lord I don’t know what else to do, but if you are listening to me and can show me another way out of this mess I’m in.... his voice trailed off into deep sobs, as the tears flowed down his face.
Suddenly there was a knock at the door. Harold shocked, took the noose from around his neck and wiped his face. He felt like he should answer the door. He was not sure why exactly, but he swung the door open, and their was a Church of Christ sister standing there. She introduced herself and handed him a church pamphlet. She asked him if he would be interested in having someone from the church do a Bible study with him, at his convenience.
Harold agreed to a Bible study that same afternoon, and he was baptized into the Church of Christ that same night! Harold has been a faithful member going on 7yr's now. He found a great job and the church helped him with his bills until he could get on his feet.
Janey, a Church of Christ sister was doing some door knocking, trying to set up some home Bible studies. As she turned the corner she heard a loud crash! Then she saw the wreck. 3 cars were involved. Two of the drivers were dead on the scene, but one was moving. She quickly ran to the women trapped in her car. She talked to her softly, telling her that help was on the way and not to move. She called for an ambulance from her cell phone. The woman remained calm thanks to the sister who was talking to her. It seemed to take forever for the police and ambulance to arrive. The woman said her name was Janey. The sister told Janey that she was going to pray for her. Janey prayed with the sister until the paramedics arrived. Janey asked the sister if she would come to the hospital with her, as she felt less afraid if she would go. The sister said, “Yes I will go with you”. Later Janey’s doctor told the sister that if she hadn't kept Janey calm and still during the accident Janey wouldn't have made it.
Janey remained in the Hospital for 2 months, as she had serious injuries. The sister visited Janey often. She did Bible studys with Janey while in the Hospital. Upon Janeys release she was baptized into Christ. Janey is now fully recovered and also goes out door knocking, with the same sister who prayed for her and kept her calm during the accident.
But I will hope continually, and will praise You yet more and more. My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness, and Your salvation all the day, for I do not know their limits. I will go in the strength of the Lord GOD; I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only. (Psalm 71:14-16)ISBS
