Gods Good Creation

Lesson 1

The First Day of Creation Part One

Can you believe that God made the whole wide world and everything in it in just six days! According to the Bible, there are seven days of creation. On the seventh day, God rested from all the work He had done. Lets see what happened on the first day of creation.

Star_3.jpgPlease open your Bible and read Genesis, chapter one, verses one and two.

Genesis 1: 1) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2) The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Star_3.jpgLets practice looking up another passage in our Bibles that has to do with God’s good creation. Please find the following verse in your Bible and fill in the missing word.

Isaiah 45: 18) For thus says the ___, who created the heavens, who is God, who formed the earth and made it.

Star_3.jpgOn the very first day of creation, there was NO light at all! Tell about the darkest place you have been and what it felt like.

Star_3.jpgOkay, now it is review time! Let’s see how much you can remember from your Bible verses.

1) When did God create the heavens that the earth?_________________________________________________

2) On the first day, was the earth with or without form?_________________________________________________

Star_3.jpgForm means, was the earth in the shape of a globe or ball like we know it today? Or was it just a big blob, kind of like jiggling Jell-O?

3) Was it light or dark outside?________________________

4) Whose Spirit was hovering over the face of the waters?_________________________________________________

Star_3.jpgYay! Now it is fun project time! Go and ask your mom or dad (be sure to use your manners) and ask them to help you out.

Here’s what you’ll need to do:

At bath time tonight, fill up the tub, but hold off on the bubbles for a bit. This project will be most effective if it can be done in a quiet setting. Go ahead and climb into the tub. Once you are in the tub, blind fold yourself or have mom or dad turn off the lights. Close your eyes, take deep breaths, and just listen. Mom or dad can create waves so the sound of sloshing water can be heard. Imagine that this is the water peacefully moving around the earth on day one.

What does it feel like?

What does it sound like?

What does it make you think of?

How does it make you feel?

This would be the perfect time to review the lesson and help your young one understand what without form means. If you do not have a tub, try filling the sink and putting your child’s hands in it.

Star_3.jpgPlease think about your memory verse this week and say it out loud trough out the day. It is:

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Star_3.jpgI look forward to sharing with you day two of God’s good creation next week.  Please make sure that your put your name, age and state at the top of your reply when you send in your answers.  Also, please remember to do so in the "subject" box too.  Thank you!
