Do we have the same desires David had when he wrote the 51st Psalm?
Have
mercy upon me, O God, according to thy loving kindness; according unto the
multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me
thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. (Psalm 51:1-2)
Most would probably say,”Yes, we desire mercy and loving kindness from our Father. We certainly want Him to cleanse us and to wash away our iniquities”.
Can we also say that we desire to do what God wants us to do?
For I acknowledge my transgression and my sin is ever before me. (Psalm 51:3)
It isn’t easy to acknowledge our sin.
David wanted to be purged,….
….washed,
….made whiter than snow.
Today we need to have the heart of David
We should be asking God to
· Create in us a clean heart
· Renew a right spirit within us
·
Restore
unto us the joy of His salvation.
We then must teach transgressors God’s ways so that they may be converted unto God.
God did not desire sacrifice, for that meant there had been sin.
Today,
God desires the same thing of us that he did of David. God wants us to have a
broken spirit and a broken and contrite heart.
It all begins in our hearts (minds).
I have a lot of work to do on my heart! Therefore, I pray God will give me the heart of David, so that I may acknowledge my sin and become the person God would have me be.
