Peace
that Passes All Understanding
By
Regaina Thompson
The prophetic words of Jesus, penned by David, expressed
the hope and peace our Lord knew because He was assured the Father
would not leave His soul in Sheol, nor would He allow His Holy One to see
corruption. (Psalm 16:9)
If Christ could live His life so
assured of His Father's care even in death, we certainly have nothing
to fear.
Christ expressed faith in His
Father to raise Him from the dead. He said, "You will show me the path of life".
He knew that in His Father's presence was joy and that after He arose
He would ascend to sit at the Father's right hand forevermore. (Psalm 16:11)
Jesus showed us the path of life.
He paved it with His blood. In His presence will be joy forevermore.
Jesus taught in Lk. 12:4-5 that we
should not fear those who can kill the body, rather fear Him who can also
destroy the soul.
In Heb 13:5-6 God promises never to
leave us. He tells us that we can have confidence in God as our
helper. We should have no fear because man can really do nothing.
It is very easy for us to get caught
up in our daily lives, good and bad, but let us focus on the same prize Paul
focused on:
"I press toward the goal for the
prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus." (Phil 3:14)
We should press for that goal so that
we might rest in the peace that passes all understanding and be filled
with the joy of the Lord. (Phil 4:4-9)
