Please read Matthew 6:19-34 and
then answer the following questions.
- Jesus speaks of
two kinds of pursuits, earthly and heavenly. Based upon a person’s pursuits,
what is revealed about that person?

Please explain how verses 22-23 relate to this subject.
- What is
“mammon”?
- In terms of
pursuits, practically speaking, why is it that “no man can serve two masters”?
- Please explain
the purpose behind the illustrations that Jesus uses to show how God provides
(vv. 25-30). Ultimately, what do these illustrations teach us?
- What other
bible passages teach us about God’s providential care?
- According to
Jesus, if we put the kingdom first, God will meet our needs (6:33). Has this
proven true for you? If it has, would you like to share how? If it hasn’t
proven true, what might that mean?
