OBC                    My Ways Are Not Your Ways               Lesson 2

God’s Way is walking in joy.                             Man’s way is walking in anxiety.

Isaiah 55:8 & 9

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts”

It is God’s way that we walk in joy.   You might say, “How can I walk in joy when I have all of these problems?”   Too often we choose to walk as men in anxiety, instead of in joy.  We will examine some scriptures that teach us to walk in joy.    We will also consider what the scriptures say about anxiety.

I Thessalonians 5:16-18 says,   “__________always,  _________ without ceasing; in everything _____ ____________,  for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
Notice in this scripture we are told that we are to rejoice when?______________.
We are to pray without what?_______________-
In everything we are to do what?___________________

Lets think of some things that we have to rejoice about.

Who was always with them, and is always with us?____________
4. What will be added unto you if you seek first the kingdom of God, according to Matthew 6:33?
______________________________________________________________
Does God know if you need food or clothing or shelter?__________________

Can we rejoice that when we have troubles and cares, God cares about us?______
Is this reason to rejoice always?_______
Rejoicing always is God’s way,  I Thessalonians 5:16.

Now let us look at man’s way of dealing with life’s troubles.
Let's see what the scriptures say about anxiety
.

How do we keep from being anxious?  (Read the rest of verse 6) by ______________ and ___________________.
What does supplication mean?

7. Matthew 6:25 ASV,  “Therefore I say unto you, Be not ____________ for your life, what you shall eat or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on.  Is not the life more than the food, and the body than the raiment.”

8. Matthew 6:26,   “Behold the _________ of the air; for they ______ _____, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them.   Are ye not much __________ _______ _______?”

Wherefore, if _________ so clothe the ________ of the field, which today is and tomorrow is cast into the oven, ________ ____ ______ much more _________ ________, O ye of little faith.”

10. Does God care about bird and grass?   We know that God cares about small things such as birds and grass, so why should we be anxious?   Surely we are of more value than birds and grass.  What makes us anxious? (See the end of Matt. 6:30.)  ____________________.
We know that worry and anxiety are counter productive.  They hurt us mentally, and even sometimes physically.   This is the way of the world.

Which do you choose:   joy (rejoicing) or anxiety?   Do you choose God’s way or man’s way?
