OBC                         My Ways are Not Your Ways                 Lesson 6


God’s way is walking in faith.                                  Man’s way is walking in fear. 
 
Isaiah 55:8 & 9
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
 
As we begin lesson six, we will be examining God’s way, which is to walk in faith.   We will answer some questions about faith.   Then we will turn our attention to fear, which is the absence of faith.
 
1.  How does one attain faith according to Romans 10:17? _________________________________
 
2.  Is it possible to please God without faith? _________
Hebrews 11:6,    “But with out __________ it is ________________ to _____________ him;  for he that cometh to _______ must _____________ that he is, and that he is a _________________  of those that diligently __________ him.”

7.   The sinner who turns to God in obedient faith will be saved when he does the following:
 
Romans 10:10,"For with the heart man  _______________  unto righteousness; and with the mouth  __________________  is made unto salvation" 
 

Acts 2:38,"Then Peter said unto them,  __________,  and be  __________________  every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ   _____  the  __________________  of  ______,  and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."  

 

 8.   Then as a child of God, one must remain faithful unto _________ (Revelation 2:10).

Now we will turn our attention to a study of fear.

First let us say, there is a godly fear that is good.  It is a measure of respect that one has for the almighty God and His word.   It is the proper reverence for God that causes one to obey God.

9.   Ecclesiastes 12:13,   “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:  ________ God and ______ his commandments:  for this is the whole duty of man.”

The other kind of fear involves a lack of trust and faith in God.  It is timidity or cowardice.

Examine the following scriptures to see what we are told about this kind of fear.
10.  Romans 8:15 says the wrong kind of fear is a spirit of ______________.

11.   Matthew 10:28,   "And  _____  ____  them which kill the  ______,  but are  ____  able to kill the  _____:  but rather  _____  ____  which is able to  __________  both  _____ and body in  _____."

Hear we see both the bad kind of fear and the good kind of fear.  Explain which is the bad and which is the good fear in this verse.

13.  Can excessive fear effect our mind in an unhealthy way? ______

God’s way is to walk in faith.   

The man not trusting in God and His word walks in the wrong kind of fear, ungodly fear.
