OBC                                 My Ways Are Not Your Ways                       Lesson 5

God’s way is walking in goodness.                                Man’s way is walking in evil.

Isaiah 55:8 & 9
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

It would seem all would see the wisdom of walking in goodness, rather than in walking in evil.   However, a part of Satan’s deceit is to convince men that good is evil and that evil is good.  To combat the attacks of Satan, it is imperative that we study God’s word in order to be able to discern good from evil.

1.   What do Psalm 107:8,  107:15, 107:21, and 107:31 all say?   “Oh that  ______ would __________  the Lord for His _________________, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!”
God is a God of goodness.   If we are His children, then we will desire to be good.

There are numerous scriptures in which goodness and evil are contrasted.  We will consider a few of these scriptures.   It is clear that God’s way of walking in goodness
is to be preferred to walking in evil.

Let's consider some questions and allow the scripture to give the answers.

2.  What is said about those that devise evil and good?
Proverbs 14:22  Do they not _____ that devise __________?  but __________ and _______shall be to them that devise ___________.”

3.  Who sees whether we do good or evil?
Proverbs 15:3,   The __________ of the Lord are in every place,  beholding the ________and the _____________.”

4.   Is there a punishment for encouraging evil?
Proverbs 17:13,    “Whoso rewardeth __________ for _____________, ___________ shall not depart from his house.”

5.   As Christians, what are we to dislike that God dislikes, and what are we to hold on to that God values?
Romans 12:9,    “Let love be without dissimulation (false intentions).   Abhor that which is _________;  cleave to that which is __________.”

6.   Do our companions influence us in the matter of being good or evil?
I Corinthians 15: 33,   “Be not deceived:   ____________ communications (company RSV) corrupt ____________ manners.”

7.   Are there some things we can do to avoid evil and seek good?
I Peter 3:10-11,  “For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from _______, and his lips that they speak no ___________ (deceit).
Let him eschew (turn from) __________ and do ___________;  let him seek ____________, and ensue (pursue) it.”

8.   If we want to be in a right relationship with God, what must we be doing?
3 John 1:11 “ Beloved, follow not that which is __________, but that which is ________. He that doeth ______is of _______:  but he that doeth evil hath not seen __________.”

9.   Will the doing of good or evil impact our resurrection?
John 5:28, 29,    Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the ________  shall hear his voice,  And shall come forth;  they that have done __________, unto the resurrection of ______;  and they that have done _______, unto
the resurrection of ___________________.”

10.  Thought question:   What are some ways, within or outside the church,  you see
people calling good, evil and evil, good?

Let's remember to seek God’s higher ways and God’s thoughts,
not man’s ways and thoughts.
