The wise man wrote, “And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh” (Eccl 12:12). But also, there seems to be no end to the information sites and books that have been and are being written pro and con regarding the LDS religion. Many who have been excommunicated or have otherwise left the LDS religion have written of their experiences, and some still believe in the Book of Mormon and the revelations of Joseph Smith.[1] Those who leave the Mormon religion face powerful social pressures to return to the faith, including the threat of family exclusion.[2] As it is with many cults, the attraction to this grave error is so destructive that many who leave often completely disavow belief in God. It is for this reason that an acquaintance with the contradictions of this cult is necessary so the faithful will not be taken in by the claims of the LDS religion and so the unsuspecting may be forewarned.
"Come
on! ye prosecutors! ye false swearers! All hell, boil over! Ye burning
mountains, roll down your lava! for I will come out on top at last. I have
more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been
able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority
of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work
as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints
never ran away from me yet...When they can get rid of me, the devil will also
go." (History of the Church, Vol. 6, p. 408, 409)
