Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.(Ps.41:1)
Blessed are those who remember the poor….
…Who consider their state
…Who help in their time of need
…For the Lord will deliver him in his time of need.
Why are they blessed? Those who give to the poor are blessed because they recognize that they are not only giving to the poor, they are giving to God.
He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again. (Prov.19:17)
Blessed are those who realize that all they have, is not their own, but the Lord’s.
Charge them that are rich of this world, that they be not high-minded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who gives us all things to enjoy. (I Tim.6:17)Many times I have read
Psalms 37:25. But I was struck today at the verse following:I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
Why?
He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed. (Ps.37:25f)
The person who will not have to fear approaching the point of begging, is the one who recognizes that he is not just “giving” to the poor, but he is “lending” to God.
· He does not trust in his riches.
· He does not
“lay up treasures on earth.”· He trust in God.
· He recognizes a greater ideal.
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, shall men give unto your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured unto you again. (Luke 6:38)
