THE MIRACLES OF JESUS CHRIST

Instructor: Paul Ditoro

Introduction:

The Bible teaches that miracles had a singular purpose and a specific duration. In these lessons we will notice how the miracles studied met that purpose.

People call many of the wonderful things that occur in life a miracle. A baby is born and someone says, “It’s a miracle.” A cancer goes into remission and sometimes even the doctors will exclaim, “It’s a miracle.” This casual use of the word “miracle” clouds the impact of the genuine miracles of the Bible. Has anyone ever spoken anything into existence, or cured a leper by saying, “be thou clean,” or calmed the sea by commanding it to be still, or called the dead back from the grave? Now these are miracles. To call any of the remarkable things that occur today a miracle just doesn’t stand up to the test.

In the New Testament, the words “signs,” “miracles” and “wonders” are often used interchangeably and refer to the same thing. Just for information purposes note the uses of the following words:

             "Signs" [seemeia] are miracles, or other facts regarded as proofs of a divine mission;[1]

       "Wonders" [terata] are miracles viewed as prodigies, causing astonishment (Acts 2:22 ,33);

         “Powers” [dunameis] are miracles viewed as manifestations of superhuman power.

 This course is a concentrated study from a list of about 35 miracles of Christ.
