May
His Way Be Known
By
Judy Cook [Bio. at end]
God
be merciful to us and bless us, And cause His face to shine upon us. Selah
That Your way may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations. (Psalm
67:1)
Our
prayers are full of pleadings for God's mercy and blessings. We long for those
every day all day so that we may be happy, financially solvent, healthy, safe,
and on and on. Yet, this Psalm makes us aware of a loftier reason for God to
bless us and to be happy with us. It is so the world can see His
salvation. His blessings will also bring joy to us, but primarily they will
cause the world to see God!
Let
your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works
and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matt.
5:16)
Why
do we do good works? Is it to earn our salvation?
No! Is it so those around us will think highly of
us? Maybe, but that should not be our motivation! We
do our good works in order to glorify our Father and so that the world can see
God.
By
this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love
for one another." (1
John 13:35)
Why
do we love one another?
Is
it because it is commanded? Is it because it is easy? We
have love for and show love for our brethren so that the World will see that
we belong to Christ and so they will see Him!
The
Christian life revolves around being the kind of people and living the kind of
life that will show the world GOD and one that will glorify Him.

I was born in 1953 in Texas. My older brother was born in
1949 and my younger in 1957. We lived most of my life in Wylie, Northeast of
Dallas. My older brother, Ronald, was born with a congenital heart defect.
In 1963, he died. Through his death my parents turned to God. My mother had
been raised by a Christian grandmother but had not been as faithful as she
should have been. The church in Wylie showed great love for my whole family
during this time. And that, combined with my father's deep desire to be with
Ronald again some day, prepared their hearts to obey God. As you can imagine
both these events--my brother's death and my parents' baptisms--changed my
life completely!
Eventually, my father served 22 years as an elder for the
church in Wylie--where my mom is a member still. Our lives were shaped by
Sundays and Wednesdays and everything in between!
I married Randy in 1977 while he was a student at Preston
Road School of Preaching in Dallas. He was in the last class to graduate
before Eldred Stevens's death in 1979. Randy preached in Fremont, NE;
Walnut Springs, TX; and Lewisville, AR.
Our children Beth and Stuart were born in Wylie in 1980 and
1983. They are the joys of my life. We homeschooled them which is one of the
greatest blessings we have known.
We have lived in Watauga, TX for 14 years. The move into this
house was our 14th move.
I am privileged to edit and publish a quarterly for women of
the church--Daughters of Sarah. We are starting our 8th year this month. Our
website is www.daughtersofsarah.com.
The women who do the writing are very gifted and godly.
I love being a wife and mother. We have made many sacrifices
over the years to make it possible for me to be home. I truly have believed
that home is where God intended me to be. I love spending time with my
children. I enjoy reading, writing, sewing, gardening, and spending time
with friends.
