Because
thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise Thee. (Psalm 63:3)
Whoso is wise, and will observe these things, even they shall understand the
lovingkindness of the LORD. (Psalm 107:43)
Cause
me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me
to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee. (Psalm
143:8)
Do we know and understand the difference between
"kindness" and "loving kindness?" We understand that
to help someone is a kindness. What would be the difference between
showing them “kindness” and in showing them “loving kindness”?
I read a thought provoking excerpt the other day, which vividly illustrates the difference. It went like this:
The teacher asked the pupils to tell the meaning of lovingkindness. A little boy jumped up and said, "Well, if I was hungry and someone gave me a piece of bread that would be kindness. But if they put a little jelly on it, that would be loving kindness." (Quote taken from, "God's Little Devotional Book for Women.")
What
a simple way to explain and know the difference between "kindness" and
“lovingkindness”!
Do we do only what we have to and call it enough or do we generously smear on the jelly, enthusiastically demonstrating our loving kindness!
Our Creator, gave with "loving kindness!" He gave His best for us! Shouldn't we be more than willing to give not only the bread but the jelly too!
