Let God Surround You
By Ruby E. Ramsey
Those who trust in the Lord are like Mt. Zion which cannot be moved, abides forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people from this time forth and forever.
For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest on the land allotted to the righteous, lest the righteous reach out to the hands of iniquity.
Do good, O Lord, to those who are good, and to those who are upright in their hearts. As for such as turn aside to their crooked ways, the Lord shall lead them away with the workers of iniquity. Peace be upon Israel! (Psalm 125:1-5)
When I think of God surrounding His people, I think of children running to their mothers who surround them with loving arms. She protects them from all outside forces, giving them comfort, sharing with them her strength and courage. When we trust God, He reaches out to us, surrounding us with His loving arms, protecting us and comforting us.
Some of my favorite Bible verses are Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In ALL your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths." (Emphasis mine).
God does not want us to trust in ourselves or some mere man. He wants us to trust Him with all our hearts. He wants our hearts, our allegiance, our submission, our trust. He wants all of it.
This world would be a better place if everyone were upright and righteous and good. We wouldn't need the police. We would not have to lock our doors. We would not have to keep our money in banks. (To name a few things).
Since the world is NOT like this, we need to know that we have a God we can run to who will surround us with His loving arms. He will keep wickedness away from us. As long as we stay close to God, we are like mountains which cannot be moved.
Let God surround you with His love!
