II - Healing the paralytic [palsey KJV]  (Mt. 9:2-8; Mk. 2:1-12; Lk. 5:17 -26).  (We will take our discussion from Marks fuller account and consider some of the variations from the other two acounts)                                          (Category:         )  [                ]

2.  What does Luke’s variation say Jesus was doing, and what was with Him?

III - Healing the impotent man (Jn. 5:1-16) (Category:    ) [                 ]

1. This miracle involves one of John’s favorite symbols, “water.” List the various uses of the word “water” in John.

2.  How long had the man been crippled?

3. Why could he not be helped by the healing waters?

4.  How did Jesus heal the man?

5.  What did the man do when Jesus healed him?

6.  What did the Jews say to the man?

7.  How did the Jews determine that Jesus was involved?

8.  What was the reaction of the Jews?

 

IV - The man with the withered hand (Mt. 12:9-14; Mk. 3:1-6; Lk. 6:6-11)             (Category:    ) [                                                                                 

1. What incident preceded this healing that further aroused the leaders of the Jews?

2.  Why did the Jews question Jesus in the synagogue?

3.  Did the Pharisees believe that Jesus had the ability to miraculously heal? Give evidence for your answer.

4.  What Old Testament teaching did Jesus cite to illustrate that work may be done on the sabbath days? (Give the O.T. scripture)

5.  How did the Pharisees show their “appreciation” for the miracle Jesus worked at that time?

Thought question [d]: Luke’s account said “They were filled with madness.” The expression here is very strong, indicating that those religious bigots were out of their rational minds with malicious fury.  What reasons can you give to explain their fury that resulted in their wanting to kill the Son of God rather than glorify Him?

V - The centurion’s servant (Mt. 8:5-13; Lk.  7:1-10)                                                                                 (Category:    ) [                 ]

1.  Because of the differences between these two accounts, some have said they are two different occasions. List the differences between the accounts.
