Later Never Comes

By Regaina Thompson

Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;

But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night.

He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

The ungodly are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.

Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish. (Psalm 1:1-6)

This chapter emphasizes the fact that we need to be in the Word at all times.

There is a computer saying: "garbage in, garbage out." It is very important that we are careful with what we fill our heads, with whom we spend our time, and on what we meditate.

God promises in these passages that He will prosper us, if we stay focused on Him. He will give us deep roots. I know from my own experience that my day goes much better and temptations are easier to avoid if I spend time with Him first thing in the morning.

For me, there are 2 activities I must accomplish first thing in the morning, because later never comes. One is my physical exercises and the other is my spiritual exercises. For some reason, it is very hard to find time for things later in the day. Daily Bible study and prayer keeps my focus right and my perspective on things in this world, in the right place.
