*THOUGHT QUESTION:

In fairytale stories like Cinderella and Snow White what are the children of the king called? A boy is a prince and a girl is a princess, right? In Jesus’ kingdom, who are the princes and who are the princesses?

*Note to parents:

The point of this question is to help your child realize how special Christians are. We are children of God. Therefore that makes us like princes and princesses in His kingdom. If you want the full impact of this thought, type Bible Gateway into your search address box. Click the Keyword Search. Enter the word, “sons”. Choose to search from Matthew to Revelation. Click Search for keyword. Read all the verses that pertain to “sons of God”. If you do this, your own perception of who you are may even be enhanced. I was a student of the late Batsell Barrett Baxter many years ago. I remember, because he repeated it so often, one of his favorite sayings: “People tend to become what they think you think they are.” Your child is the most important person in the world to impact with your positive perception of who he or she is. What more positive self image can you give your child than to help him understand that he or she is the child of THE KING and that, when they choose to become a Christian, they can continue to be a child of THE KING? Years ago, when we worked for a small mission congregation in North Carolina, we bought a huge 80-year-old, dilapidated “handy man special” to live in. Many friends, family members and church members chipped in with money and many hours of dedicated labor to help us restore the old house. When it was finished, it was so beautiful! A little girl from a very sad broken home situation visited us in our lovely house one day. In awe she asked, “Are you rich?” Tears came to my eyes and I answered, “Yes, I am. My Father owns the world!” Give your child the sense of knowing who they are. Your sons are princes! Your daughters are princesses!!

Note about clipart:  We do not know what Jesus, or angels or any Bible character looks like. We use pictures to represent Bible people and places to help the children to relate to the story. Please explain to your child that no one knows what any of it looked like except from what we read about in the Bible or in history books.
