Lesson Text: Matthew 2 :9-12
[9] When they heard the king, they departed;
and behold, the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it
came and stood over where the young Child was.
[10] When they saw
the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.
[11] And when they
had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and
fell down and worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they
presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
[12] Then, being divinely warned in a dream that
they should not return to Herod, they departed for their own country another
way.
The wise men eagerly followed
the bright star! It stopped! It stopped over the house where the
young child was!
The wise men were so happy!! The wise men went into the house and can you
guess who they saw? Yes, they saw little Jesus and His mother. What did they
do when they saw Him? They worshiped Him! They gave Him gifts! God told the
wise men in a dream to not go back and tell Herod where Jesus was. God told
them to go home another way.

sleeping bags and go outside at night and lay on the ground and watch for
falling stars. Try to find a place that is away from the bright city lights so
that you can see the stars better. Discuss how God made the stars. Try to
count the stars. Discuss the wise men and the star they followed.
Note
about clipart: We do not know what Jesus, or angels or any Bible
character looks like. We use pictures to represent Bible people and places to
help the children to relate to the story. Please explain to your child that no
one knows what any of it looked like except from what we read about in the
Bible or in history books.
