Lesson 17

 

 

Lesson Text: Matthew 5:1-2;4
 
And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:.... Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.
 
Jesus went up on a mountain and taught a large crowd and He gave them a list of things to do so that they could be blessed. Do you remember what it means if a person is blessed? If you are blessed it means that you are very, very happy! In our lesson today we will learn about people who are very, very happy because they "mourn". To mourn means to be very, very sad. How can someone be happy who is very, very sad?? Let's learn how right now!
 
To mourn means:
 
To be very sad when others disobey God.
 
To feel like crying because someone you know is being bad and won't get to go to Heaven if they don't stop being bad.
 
 

 

How can a person who is mourning be happy?
 
Mourning people are happy because:
 
Because they love the souls of other people and care what will happen to them.
 
Because they love God.
 
Because they try to help others go to heaven.
 
Because someday God will take away all their sadness and tell them to come to Heaven and live with Him.

Please tell whether or not the children are mourning.

 

1. Makayla laughed when her friend told the teacher a lie.

 

2. Cody cried when he found out that his grandfather was not a Christian.

 

3. Caroline asked her mother if she could call their neighbor who did not go to church and invite her to their gospel meeting.

 

4. Alex made fun of his friend and said that only sissies go to church.

 

5. Brooke saw her brother steal something and she begged him to put it back. She told him that God saw him do it and that God would punish him if he kept being bad.

 

6. Sean and Sabrina asked their mother to help them make a card to send to their favorite aunt who was not a Christian. They also asked their Mom if they could send her a DVD their elders had given them that tells how to become a Christian.

 

7. Mr. Kelley was baptized. He said that he became a Christian because a little girl named Kathy had told him she wanted him to go to heaven. (This really happened)
