Lesson 14

Lesson Text: Matthew 4:18-22

And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” They immediately left their nets and followed Him.
Going on from there, He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets. He called them, and immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him.

Jesus had work to do! God had given Him a special job to do while He lived on earth. He needed helpers! Jesus went looking for men who would help Him to do God’s special work. When he found them he said to them, “Follow Me!” Do you know what they did? They followed Him!! Jesus is in Heaven now waiting for those on earth who love Him to come to where He is. He is preparing a special place for all those who love Him. We can still follow Jesus today even though He does not live on the earth as a man anymore. We can follow Him by studying God’s Word to learn how to be like Jesus. We follow Him when we do good things like He did. We can love and obey God like He did. We can love others and be kind to them just like Jesus was. We have work for God on earth to do too! Let’s get busy!

When you are finished, take turns telling about your picture. You can make a game out of it by seeing who can put the most things from the lesson in their picture. The winner will be the one who put the most things from the lesson text in their picture.
