Lesson 13

Matthew 3:1-2; Matthew 4:12-13;17

In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, and saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” ...Now when Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, He departed to Galilee. And leaving Nazareth, He came and dwelt in Capernaum,.... From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”

Our important Bible words for this lesson are AT HAND. What does “AT HAND” mean? AT HAND means something that is going to happen soon! It is going to happen right away! John told his disciples that the kingdom of heaven was AT HAND! John prepared the way for Jesus and then John was thrown into prison. Then Christ began to tell His disciples that the kingdom was AT HAND.

Please explain to your child that no one knows what any of it looked like except from what we read about in the Bible or in history books.
