Noah's Ark
Lesson 2
Two by Two
Let's get back to our study of God's wonderful Word!  We'll continue studying about Noah and his ark.  Open your Bibles to Genesis 6:17-20:

Genesis 6:17-20  "And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.  But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee.  And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female.  Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive."

Here God tells us how He planned to destroy the world.  He was getting ready to flood the earth with water.  Not only would Noah be saved, but God allowed Noah's wife, three sons and their wives into the ark.

The animals had to be saved too.  God told Noah to get males and females of every kind of animal into the ark.  This was not only for sacrifice and food, but animals have always been needed for many other things too.  Donkeys, cows, horses and cattle have been used to help on farms for many years.  Dogs are trained for all sorts of useful tasks.  Cats are helpful animals too by keeping mice out of homes.  God knew that we needed these animals and that they should be saved from the flood of waters soon to come.
