Noah's Ark
Lesson 4
The Wait

Now it is time for Lesson 4 of Noah's Ark.  Open your Bibles to Genesis 7:17-24 and let's begin:

Genesis 7:17-24  "And the flood was forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bare up the ark, and it was lift up above the earth.  And the waters prevailed, and were increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark went upon the face of the waters.  And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered.  Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered.  And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man:  All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.  And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.  And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.

***Last week, we left Noah's family and the animals on the ark, waiting for the rains to come.  Finally, the flood is sent and it rains for 40 days!  It rained until the ark floated on top of the water.  Then it rained until the water was above the highest mountain on earth!  Mount Everest of the Himalayan Mountains in Nepal is the tallest mountain in the world.  It is 29,035 feet above sea level.  Wow!  That's tall!  The waters covered all the way up OVER the tallest mountain in the world.  That is a lot of water.  Only God could find that much water to rain down on the earth since He made the whole universe!

Every person and every animal that wasn't on the ark died.  Then the waters continued on the earth for 150 days.

Fun project time!
Ask your Mom and Dad to help you find the Himalayan Mountains in Nepal on a globe ( If you don't have a globe, a map will work).  Compare the height of Mt. Everest (29,035 ft) to how tall your dad is ( about 6 ft.).  That is one big mountain!  Also, ask if your mom or dad knows the general area where the Ark was built (in the Middle East).  See how far away we live from this area.  It is a GREAT BIG WORLD God made!

Try this!
Remember the 'ark' you made last week from the large box?  If you couldn't get one, that's okay, just pretend your bed is the ark.  Ask your mom to please set a timer for 40 minutes.  See if  you can stay in your 'ark' for the whole time.  Remember, that the rains came down for 40 days and then they still had to stay for 110 more days!  150 days is much longer than 40 minutes!

Memory verse for the week:

(Genesis 7:24)  "And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days."
