Gods Good Creation
Lesson 5

Third Day of Creation, Part 2
Can you believe that we are halfway done with God's Good Creation!  I have enjoyed these lessons and I hope you have too!  Let's begin by reading Genesis chapter 1, verses 11, 12, and 13.

Genesis 1: 11-13  "Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth”; and it was so.  And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.  So the evening and the morning were the third day."

On the third day, God made all the plants.  He also made lots of different types of plants.  There are so many uses for them.  Trees can be made into paper for you to draw or color on.  Vegetables, such as brocolli, give us vitamins to help us be healthy.  Even sponges are made from plants!

Can you list a few plants and what we can use them for?

I hope you were paying attention!  Answer these:

1.  What did God make on day 3?_________________

2.  What did God see about his Creation?___________

3.  What does the herb yield?____________________

4.  What does the fruit tree yield?_________________

"Yield" means something that grows from something else.

5.  Fill in the blank:

"And the evening and the morning were the _____ day."
Today's fun project is to make a collage of plants that God made.  Be sure to ask your mom for permission to use the scissors and old magazines to cut up.

Cut out pictures of things that God made on Day 3 and glue them to a sheet of construction paper.  Hang your beautiful artwork on the refrigerator to remind you all week of God's Good Creation!

THINK ABOUT THIS!!!

Let's read another verse from the Bible about plants in God's world.  Find Matthew chapter 6, verses 28, 29, and 30.

Matthew 6:28-30 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.  Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?"

These verses tell us that the beautiful lilies that God made don't work for clothes or food and yet God takes care of them.  We work for Him and trust that God will take care of us.  Our God is an AWESOME God.  He takes care of us by giving us yummy fruits and vegetables to eat.  This week, when you are at the table, remember to thank God for the food that you have...and thank your mommy and daddy for giving you the food too!

Here's your Bible verse for the week:

"And the earth brought forth grass, the herb ..., and the tree...  And God saw that it was good." Genesis 1:12
