Lesson 20
Hello
Kids!
We have learned some wonderful new things from John 6!
This week we will study John 6:60-71
WORDS
WE SHOULD KNOW:
Disciple – a learner.
To
Remember!
Figures of speech are “words used to express an important thought.” Many figures of speech are used in the Bible. Jesus often taught using figures of speech. Go back to lesson 18 and 19 to read about figures of speech if you need to. If words are used exactly as you mean them, they are literal words. For example, you may say you are going to the store. Unless you use your words in an unusual way, you mean that you are literally going to the store.

Many Disciples Turn Away
John 6:41-66
There were many people who were disciples (learners) of Jesus during this time. They saw His miracles, and heard His teaching.
Answer the questions yes or no.
| 1. Did many of the Lord’s disciples complain about Jesus’ teaching that he was the bread out of heaven? | |
| 2. Did those disciples have a hard time understanding what Jesus was saying? | |
| 3. Did Jesus know what they were saying? | |
| 4. Did all of the disciples there that day believe in Jesus? | |

The Flesh and The Spirit
John 6:63-64
Jesus began explaining that He was talking about spiritual things, not fleshly things. He told those people that He knew who the unbelieving ones were. He explained that His words are what give life, if they are believed. People who refuse to learn of Jesus will not accept His teachings. They will refuse to believe that He came from heaven. It was when those followers of Jesus understood being a true disciple means making Jesus number one that they decided not to follow Him anymore.
The Twelve
John 6:66-69
Many of the disciples left Jesus that day. The Lord turned to the twelve disciples and asked them, “Do you also want to go away?” Jesus must have been very sad to see those people leave. He knew they could not go to heaven without believing in Him.
Peter’s Great Confession
John 6:68-69
Peter’s answer is hidden in the puzzle. This is not the usual word search. Letters of words may have other letters mixed with them. For example, the first word in the sentence is “Lord. ” Do you see that word at the beginning of the first line? It is hidden with a “B and R” mixed with the letters of the word “Lord.” The puzzle is only worked across. Look up the verse to find the words that are in the puzzle. When you finish finding all the words, write them on the lines.

Jesus Knows Our Hearts
John 6:71
Because Jesus is God’s Son He knows all things. He knew who would betray Him. What is the name of that man?

Just as Jesus could see into the heart and mind of the betrayer, He can look into our hearts. He sees that we believe in Him. He knows that we want to do our best to serve Him.
Can you think of some ways to serve and obey Jesus? List three.
