We are learning some wonderful things about Jesus!
Our lesson text for this week is John 6:41-59.
In this lesson we will learn more about the Living Bread of Life, Jesus Christ.
WORDS
WE SHOULD KNOW:
Jew – a person whose forefather was Abraham. Jesus was a Jew.
The Twelve Disciples were Jews.
To Remember!
"I see" is a figure of speech that we may use when we understand something. The Jews should have seen or understood that Jesus was who He said He was by the signs that He did. The Jews knew that Jesus had healed many people, raised the dead and fed five thousand men, plus women and children. No ordinary man could do those things. Only God could give the power to heal and raise the dead.
But what did some of the Jews think?
From these three verses we learn that some of the Jews had bad attitudes about Jesus. They saw the miracles (signs), but did not listen well with good hearts.
Jesus And Figures of Speech

Fill in the blanks with the figure of speech.
IMPORTANT TO KNOW!
When we read a saying that cannot possibly be true, it may be a figure of speech.
You are right! Of course not. And Jesus would not have suggested the literal drinking of blood because according to the Old Testament that would be a sin. (Leviticus 17:10-13).
Even today someone may use these words as figures of speech. Someone might say, "I eat and drink sports." Or about someone, "He eats and drinks baseball." What they mean is that these things are the main purpose in life. And this is exactly what Jesus was teaching in these passages. Jesus must be number one in our lives. Serving Him with all of our being is what following Jesus means.
How to Eat Jesus!
We must _________________ in Jesus (verse 47)
When do you think that Jesus gave His flesh? He was talking about giving his life on the cross.
Jesus knew that He would give His life on the cross only a few months from the time He spoke these words. It is so important for us to understand what it means to follow Jesus. It means that we must make Him the Lord and Master of our lives each day, doing the best we can to learn and do what He says in His Word, the Bible. Let us trust and obey the wonderful Jesus who loves us.
