Kid's Korner

Text:  John 4:43-54

Family Research Activity

When Jesus lived on earth He spent much time in Galilee. Find a Bible map that shows the area where Jesus lived when He lived on earth.  Find Galilee.  Find Nazareth.  Now find Bethlehem and Jerusalem (which are not in Galilee).  Next list the cities in Galilee.  Discuss things that happened while Jesus was on earth in the different places you have found on the map.

Now that you have studied the map it will help you to better be able to picture the places Jesus went as they are located in relation to each other.

In today's lesson we find Jesus in Galilee.  He was there teaching the people about His Kingdom that He would soon establish while many of those listening to Him were alive. He went about healing people and doing other miracles so that people would believe the Words He was saying.

A certain nobleman whose son was very sick heard that Jesus was in Galilee. The nobleman was very sad.  He thought his son was going to die.  He begged Jesus to go to Capernaum where he lived so that He could heal his son.  (Do you remember seeing Capernaum on the map?)

1. Dictionary work:  What is a nobleman?

Jesus did not go to where the boy was but instead Jesus told the nobleman that his son would live.  The nobleman believed Jesus!  He started toward his home and his servants ran out to meet him before he reached his home.  They were so excited.  They happily told him that his son was well.  The nobleman asked them to tell him when the boy got better.  When they told him he knew that it was the same time that Jesus had said, "Your son lives".  The nobleman and all the people who lived with him and worked for him believed in Jesus!

Note:  Jesus talked about "food" (NKJ) in verse 34.  He was not talking about "hotdog and pizza" type food. When He used the word "food" it meant that it was something very important to Him.  Food brings us pleasure and it is good for us.  That is what Jesus meant when He said "food" in this verse.

Choose the correct answer:

2. Jesus said that His food was to (play football, go shopping, do His Father's Will).

3. When Jesus was talking about "harvest", "fields", "fruit", and "gathering" He was talking about (grapes, pomegranates, souls).

4. Many of the Samaritans believed (because of something a woman had said, because Jesus walked on water, because He turned the water into wine).

5. Jesus stayed with the Samaritans for (two months, two days, two hours).

6. The Samaritans said that they believed that Jesus was ( Elijah, John the Baptist come back to life, the Savior of the world).

7. The nobleman asked Jesus to heal his (daughter, servant, son).

True or False:

9. The nobleman lived in Bethlehem.

10 Jesus went to Capernaum to heal the nobleman's son.

11. The servants went to meet the nobleman.

12. The hour the girl was healed was the same hour Jesus said "she lives".

13. The nobleman and his whole household believed in Jesus.
