Kid's Korner

Lesson 24

Lesson Text:  John 7:37-38

Fill in the blank

1. On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone _______, let him come to Me and ______.

2. He who ______ in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of ______  ______  .”  (John 7:37-38)

When Jesus spoke of thirst He was not talking about physical thirst you get when you have been playing outside on a hot summer day.  He was speaking of spiritual thirst.  What is spiritual thirst?  Spiritual thirst is something you get when you go a long time without reading your Bible.  It is a longing to get closer to God and to grow to be more like Jesus.

Family Discussion

What would happen to someone who was outside in the heat a long time and did not drink water?  What will happen to someone who goes a long time without reading their Bible?  How can we tell that a person is really thirsty physically?  How can we tell that a person has not had spiritual water for a long time?

In the verses below tell whether the water (drink, well) is physical or spiritual:

(John 4 :7-14)

3. A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.” For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.

4. Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.

5.  Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”

6. The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep.

7. Where then do You get that living water?

8. Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?”

9. Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again,

10. But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst.

11.  But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.
