Do
you remember the old song "Detour, There’s A Muddy Road
Ahead"? Our life is a lot like that little ditty. We happen upon many
"muddy roads" we need not venture down.
These are the paths we are sure to avoid IF we heed
God’s word.
There
is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of
death. (Proverbs14:12)
Mapping
out our own way will surely lead to destruction and death.
"Enter
by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way
that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because
narrow
is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and
there are few who find it. (Matthew 7:13-14)
Once
we have started on "the right way" we must guard against all the "muddy
roads" of life.
The
backslider in heart will be filled with his own ways,
but a good man will be satisfied from above. (Proverbs
14:14)
When
our goal is to be pleasing to God, we find comfort and peace.
When
a man’s ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with
him. (Proverbs 16:7)
We
have a duty only to God first and foremost, (in following
God’s way we will be true to all in life; parents, husbands, children,
government, etc.).
Let
us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His
commandments, for this is man’s all. For God will bring every work into
judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil. (Ecc. 12:13-14)
My
grand-father Moore
told me at 92 he learned something new
Biblically every day. I have always remembered
that and take it to mean that we never arrive...
We
can’t follow what we don’t know....study, study, then study some more.
