She Properly Feeds the Inside
The virtuous woman guards her home from hunger. She brought food from afar and rising while it was still dark, she provided food for her household. In today’s terms, I believe that passage could read: She brings food from the grocery store, bakery, or farmer’s market.
She rises early in the morning to prepare a healthy breakfast for her family. When I worked as a teacher, I saw the importance of our children receiving a nutritious breakfast. There has been many scientific reports to prove that we perform better throughout the day if we begin with a good breakfast.
It is our duty to give our families a nutritious headstart. We should also be guards of what our family eats during the day. Our meals should be healthy and we should guard against all the junk food provided for our enjoyment.
She Properly Clothes the Outside
As a keeper of the home it is our loving duty to guard our family against inappropriate attire. The garments made by the virtuous woman were used to protect them against the cold. Their clothing served a very practical purpose. It is our responsibility to provide needed or necessary clothing for our children.
She made linen garments and sashes to sell and was very pleased with her work. It states that her garments were worn by gentleman sitting in the gates. I am sure these were very modest and appropriate items to be worn by the judges and Elders of the community. Mothers it is our responsibility to cloth our daughters in a way that professes godliness (1 Timothy 2:9-10).
Although this passage is to our woman, I believe our young men need to learn appropriate dress as well. It saddens me to see young people dressed so vulgar and inappropriate in public and especially in the worship service of our Lord.
