His Love is Everything

By Jackie Harrison

Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.  He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation."      (Psalms 91:14-16)

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.  And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.  Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;  does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;  does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part.  But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.

When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.  For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.   And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.  (NKJV)  ( 1 Corinthians 13:1-13)

I recently watched “The passion of the Christ” by Mel Gibson.  I am sure some of you have seen the movie. Although this movie did not adhere strickly with the scriptures, it did cause me to think about what our Lord went through. Besides the terrible mocking, and the sever beating, what stuck with me the most was when I was  reminded in the movie of  the prayer he prayed while he was on the cross. He begged God to forgive them because they knew not what they were doing.

Think of your life today and the people you see on the news and the cruelty of the crimes they commit. It is hard to believe sometimes that these people do not know exactly what was given up for them.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. (John 3:16-17)

What is it so hard about believing He loves us no matter what? Yet, we have to convince ourselves sometimes that He will forgive us. Yes, I say we – including myself because I am amazed a lot of times that His love for me goes beyond anything that I could possibly imagine.

"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways," says the LORD  "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways,   And My thoughts than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9)

Have you ever thought “When God thinks of me what comes to mind or when He searches my heart what does He see?” Sometimes I am very afraid of what He thinks about me, because I know I make mistakes all the time. So what can we do? As I said before and I will say it again, we must pick up self up and keep on going. We have to ask Him to forgive us and strive with everything in us not to make that mistake again.

The Lord knows we are not perfect, but that does not mean we should stop trying. God knows and we know we will never match His Son because only He was without sin. We must continue to pray for one another and the problems or issues that may be hindering us in our journey on the narrow path. This is one way we will know that we have the love of the Lord for each other; because without that Love we truly have nothing.

May God continue to bless you as you grown in His Word.
