Hear My Prayer

Beverly Rainwater

 "Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication." (Psalm 55:1)

We have God's ear if we are following Him. He will hear our prayers and He will deliver us.  What a blessing this is! What a gift that we have been given!  Imagine, if you will, how it would be without faith….

 ….That God will hear

                         ….That He will answer

                                                     ….And that He will be there for us.

How horribly lonely and lost we would be without the knowledge that we can pray and He will listen.

When David wrote this Psalm, he had been accused of horrible crimes. He lived each day in constant fear for his life.  He longed for wings as a dove so that he might fly away from all his enemies and troubles.  He called upon the Lord constantly to save him as we can see in (Psalm 55:22):

"Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved."

 Do we remember the Lord only in times of trouble or do we call to Him daily as an anchor and a strength in our life?  God will be there for us, sustaining us if we are His children.

Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. (Ps. 37:5);

….casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.  (I Peter 5:7).

This doesn't mean that He will always completely remove our burdens, but He will give us strength to bear them. He will increase our faith when we endure them.  He will bless us with a heart that is strong if we stay focused on following Him.

No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. (I Cor.10:13)

Then the Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations and to reserve the unjust under punishment for the Day of Judgment. (2 Peter 2:9).

He will lead us to victory!   We just have to be faithful and willing to follow Him!
