HE IS RISEN !

By Judy Trammell

Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. (Matthew 28:1)

Did you notice the ladies got up really early in the morning? They loved the Lord and wanted to be there! Do you think they really knew what had happened? Did they know the exact answers to all their questions? Did they expect to find Jesus? They had been faithful in following the Lord and wanted to be there.

And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. (Matthew 28:2-3)

The text tells us that the guards were afraid.  In Luke 24:5 we learn that the women who came to the tomb of Jesus were afraid too but they did not run away.  Mary Magdalene and the other Mary had great faith!  But notice what the guards reactions were:

And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men. But the angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. (Matthew 28:4-6)

The angel was there to guide the women and prepare them to bring the GOOD NEWS of the Resurrection to the disciples. Such a good lesson for ladies today: wherever and whenever we have opportunity, we must do the same and spread the word about Jesus. We have such a rich history of Godly women who share the story of Jesus!!!
